The eWallet Web Companion is a web-based application that allows users of Ilium Software's eWallet software to securely view their wallet files from any device with a browser and an internet connection.
This means that with the eWallet Web Companion, you can securely access your wallets using your iPhone, iPod touch, Nokia S60, BlackBerry, work computer, UMPC, or even your Nintendo Wii or PSP. There is no software to install. All you need is a connection to the internet.
Is This Safe?
Absolutely. First, all of your information is stored using eWallet's 256-bit AES FIPS encryption, so eWallet's strong encryption continues to keep your information secure.
Second, all information is transferred using the https protocol. This is the same encrypted transfer method used by your bank, credit card company, and online stores to transfer personal information and account numbers over the internet. This means that your personal information remains extremely safe at all times.
Does it do everything eWallet does?
Not yet. Right now, the eWallet Web Companion only allows you to view your information. Over time we will continue to add additional functionality, until the online eWallet experience offers the same feature set as on your computer.
Are you still going to sell the regular versions?
Yes! While we love the flexibility and accessibility that web-based software provides, we see web-based applications as part of a larger whole. We feel that locally installed versions of our applications are a vital part of this whole and have no plans to abandon them.
How does the web application get my information?
With the desktop version of eWallet, you can synchronize your wallets for web access the same way you sync to any other remote location. This means that the information available in the eWallet Web Companion is always up to date.
Who stores my wallets?
For the beta release, we are providing individual, secure file storage for all participants. This lets us better troubleshoot any problems that come up. In the future, we expect to continue to offer this service, but we may allow you to store your files in any remote location and simply use the eWallet Web Companion to view them.
Do I need to buy eWallet?
Yes. The eWallet Web Companion requires that you have eWallet 6.0 or higher installed.
Yes. The eWallet Web Companion requires that you have eWallet 6.0 or higher installed.
How much will this cost?
We're still working on that. We'd like to see the eWallet Web Companion service act as a feature of eWallet available to all eWallet users, but at this point no final decisions have been made.
How can I join the beta?
If you're interested in using the eWallet Web Companion please take a moment to fill out ouronline application. We have a limited number of seats available right now, but we will notify you as soon as a spot becomes available.
